Spatio-Temporal Logic of Adult Neurogenesis Lab

After completing a Master’s degree in Neurobiology in Grenoble, where she gained her first research experience at the Grenoble Institute of Neurosciences, Violaine pursued a PhD in Lyon within the IRIS team at the CarMeN Laboratory. She defended her PhD in 2019, focusing on in vivo preclinical imaging of inflammation in stroke. During this time, she contributed to the development of an international and multidisciplinary research project, which sparked a strong interest in scientific coordination and collaborative research dynamics. From 2020 to 2022, she joined Université de Montréal as a postdoctoral fellow in Hélène Girouard’s lab, where she continued investigating brain inflammation, with a particular interest in the role of microglia in neurovascular coupling. Driven by a strong interest in the transversal aspects of research and team dynamics, she then returned to France to join Zayna Chaker’s newly established group. Alongside helping structure the team and coordinate its logistics, she is actively involved in promoting and disseminating the team’s research activities to students. She also contributes to the development of mouse surgical techniques and works on projects exploring adult neurogenesis in the physiological context of reproductive behavior in zebrafish, a model organism she has been growing increasingly enthusiastic about. Outside the lab, she enjoys cooking Franco-Italian dishes, cycling, bivouacking in nature, and spending quality time with friends.
